The Local Committee

The Local Committee is an initiative of the Home School Community Liaison Scheme which forms part of the Social Inclusion Unit of the Department of Education and Science.

Members of the Local Committee include Principals, Parents, Home School Community Liaison co-ordinators, Teachers and Students of the following schools:

• Mount Carmel Secondary School
• St. Paul's Secondary School
• Presentation G.N.S. George's Hill
• Plás Mhuire B.N.S.
• Scoil Mhuire 's Iosaf G.N.S.
• St. Paul's B.N.S.

Members of the Local Committee include representatives from local and statutory agencies, community gardai, family agencies.
The aim of the Local Committee is that members meet to discuss issues that may impinge on children's learning. We work together to take a community approach to these issues.

There are six meetings per year. Dates of meetings are agreed at the beginning of each year.
Meetings take place in Mount Carmel school on Tuesdays from 11.30 a.m.-12.30 p.m.
